Dale Genius, Director of the Louisiana History Museum, has been honored as "Preservationist of the Year" by The Historical Association of Central Louisiana (HACL). He has served over twelve years in his position as Director.
The Association, at its May 10, 2016 meeting, said "Dale Genius has been a force with the Louisiana History Museum and Central Louisiana history".
The Louisiana History Museum, located in downtown Alexandria, is dedicated
to collecting, presenting, interpreting and promoting understanding
of the wealth of history associated with Alexandria, and all of
Louisiana. The museum maintains one of the foremost collections
of historical objects in the state.
The
building housing the Louisiana History Museum began as the Alexandria Public Library
in 1907.

The Historical Association of Central (The HACL) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, formed in 1975, as a partnership of members who share a common interest in preserving our local history in central Louisiana for future generations.
In its early formative years, the HACL helped initiate work on a Historic Preservation Ordinance for Alexandria and began sponsoring tours of historic sites and buildings in Central Louisiana.
